Building Community Connections: Buderim Lions and Magnolia Health Partnership

On Thursday, 17th October,  Magnolia Health founder Alice Paine had the wonderful opportunity to join the Buderim Lions Club at their monthly dinner meeting, and share about a topic close to her heart—pelvic pain and endometriosis. It was an honour to represent Magnolia Health and speak to such a caring and proactive group of community volunteers.

The evening started with a warm welcome from the Buderim Lions, a group that has been incredibly supportive of Magnolia Health. Earlier this year, they played a crucial role in our “Walk for Endo” event, assisting with marshalling and cooking up a storm at the BBQ. This support is just one example of their commitment to helping local organisations make a difference.

During the meeting, she shared eye-opening facts about endometriosis and pelvic pain, which affect many women, often in silence. What stood out was the level of engagement from the Lions Club members. They asked insightful questions during the interactive Q&A session, showing a genuine desire to learn more and find ways to continue supporting women in our community.

The Buderim Lions Club has been an integral part of the Sunshine Coast community since 1967. Beyond their well-known BBQs, they are involved in a wide range of initiatives, all aimed at improving the lives of residents, particularly children, youth, and at-risk adolescents. Their Youth-of-the-Year Competition, for instance, gives local high school students a platform to showcase their talents on a national stage, while their support of the Leo Club at Chancellor State High nurtures future community leaders.

One of their most inspiring projects is the Walk-to-School program, which encourages physical activity and social connection among local students. They even sponsor Story Dogs, Archie and Benny, who help children with extra reading needs build confidence and improve literacy.

In addition to their focus on youth, the Buderim Lions actively support numerous community events, including festive fairs, Australia Day celebrations, and Carols by Candlelight. Their deep-rooted involvement in the local community and their commitment to service is truly inspiring.

It’s connections like these that truly make a lasting impact, and we are deeply grateful to the Buderim Lions Club for their ongoing support and inspiration.

Together, we can continue to create a brighter future for our community!
